Stalking and Threatening Female Officer to "Date Me"... Coast Guard Officer Sent to Prosecution

A senior officer of the Korea Coast Guard was referred to the prosecution on charges of stalking and threatening a female subordinate officer to date her.

According to the legal community and the Coast Guard on the 22nd, the police have booked the current Coast Guard officer A without detention on charges of violating the Act on the Punishment of Stalking Crimes and threats, and recently sent him to the prosecution.

A is accused of stalking and threatening the female subordinate officer B multiple times from May to October last year. Despite B's rejection, he continued to demand to date her and threatened her not to disclose his actions to other staff, according to the investigation.

A faces a total of five charges, including assault, defamation, and coercion, in addition to the two aforementioned charges. The police judged that A's attempt to hit B also constitutes assault, and applied defamation charges as he spread unfavorable rumors about B to other colleagues.

A is currently suspended from his position. During the police investigation, A claimed that he had no intention to stalk or threaten, and reportedly denied the remaining charges including assault.
