Comprehensive Situation Room and Sector-Specific Task Forces in Operation

Jung-gu, Seoul (District Mayor Kim Gil-seong) will implement a "Comprehensive Lunar New Year Holiday Plan" from the 24th of this month to the 3rd of next month.

The district will focus its administrative capabilities on five areas: livelihood (sharing, price stabilization, etc.), transportation (crackdown on taxi refusal and illegal parking), safety (disaster response, safety inspections, etc.), daily life (waste disposal, medical system, etc.), and establishment of public service discipline, to support residents in having a safe and warm Lunar New Year holiday.

To provide tailored support for vulnerable groups, Jung-gu will give holiday consolation money to 3,980 low-income households, and Onnuri gift certificates worth 50,000 KRW to elderly living alone and single-parent families. Support will also be provided for vulnerable groups during the holiday using donations, as well as meals for low-income disabled persons and children suffering from food insecurity.

Through a "Sharing Campaign," donated items from residents will be distributed to vulnerable groups to help them have a warm holiday. Additionally, in collaboration with E-Mart, the "2025 Hope Wagon Lunar New Year Sharing Festival" will provide food supplies to 400 vulnerable individuals. Patrols will be strengthened in areas with many homeless people such as Seoul Station, Namdaemun, and jjokbangchon (rooming house villages), and an emergency relief counseling team for the homeless will be operated to prepare for emergencies.

The local economy will also be revitalized. Shin Jungang Market, Shin Jungbu Market, and Donghwa-dong alley shopping districts will hold Onnuri gift certificate refund events for the Lunar New Year. Price monitoring of seasonal goods and compliance with price labeling will be conducted at traditional markets and large supermarkets, and unfair trade practices will be intensively cracked down on to establish fair commercial order. A focused reporting period for construction subcontracting irregularities will be operated to protect residents' rights and interests. Reports can be made to the Audit Officer.

Measures to reduce transportation inconveniences during the Lunar New Year holiday have also been prepared. To eradicate illegal acts such as taxi refusal and solicitation, intensive crackdowns will be conducted near Seoul Station on the 28th and 30th.

Illegal parking around multi-use facilities such as subway stations, department stores, and large shopping malls will be intensively monitored to ensure smooth vehicle traffic. In particular, strict enforcement will be applied to absolutely no-parking zones such as sidewalks and crosswalks, as well as double parking and other acts that threaten safety. However, areas around traditional markets and residential alleyways will be operated flexibly within the range that does not interfere with safety.

The Disaster Safety Situation Room, Cold Wave Countermeasures Headquarters, and Snow Removal Situation Room will be activated to strengthen real-time disaster response systems. Weather conditions will be closely monitored to protect residents safely from fires, various disasters, cold waves, and heavy snow, maintaining a rapid response posture for emergencies.

Additionally, safety inspections will be conducted on roads, construction sites, and multi-use facilities to prevent accidents. For food safety, hygiene inspections will be carried out at restaurants and food manufacturing and sales businesses, and origin labeling of agricultural and marine products will be checked at traditional markets, large supermarkets, and department stores.

From the 28th to the 29th of this month, waste disposal will be prohibited, and waste can be disposed of only after 7 p.m. on the 30th. To prevent illegal dumping and manage waste generated during the holiday, patrols will be strengthened in heavily visited areas such as Myeongdong and Dongdaemun, as well as in areas vulnerable to cleaning issues, and a cleaning situation room will be operated to handle cleaning complaints.

To minimize medical service gaps, an emergency medical treatment situation room will be set up at Jung-gu Public Health Center. Information on hospitals and clinics operating during the holiday and a rapid emergency response system will be maintained, operating from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. from the 24th of this month to February 3rd. Additionally, on the 29th and 30th, internal medicine and family medicine consultations will be available at the emergency medical treatment team at Jung-gu Public Health Center from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The National Medical Center emergency room will operate 24 hours, and three public night and holiday health care clinics will continue to provide medical services. Detailed schedules of hospitals, clinics, and pharmacies open during the holiday can be checked through the Emergency Medical Portal. More information is available on the Jung-gu District Office website under the "Lunar New Year Comprehensive Plan" page.

District Mayor Kim Gil-seong stated, "We will do our utmost to implement measures in each sector so that all Jung-gu residents can spend a safe and warm Lunar New Year holiday."
