for Outstanding Volunteer Activities

Honam University (President Park Sangcheol) announced on the 22nd that it held the “2024 Social Service Award” ceremony to encourage students who have actively participated in social service activities both on and off campus.
The award ceremony for this year’s Social Service Award was held on the 21st in the president’s office at Honam University. Recipients included Im Changkyung from the Department of Computer Engineering, Park Ain from the Department of Architecture, and Lee Jonghyun from the Department of Physical Therapy.
Im Changkyung, as a member of the HAI Digital Care Social Service Group, visited the Hanam Community Welfare Center in Gwangsan-gu, Gwangju, to teach local residents experiencing digital alienation practical skills such as how to use smartphones and kiosks, as well as how to book transportation using smartphones.
Additionally, Park Ain (freshman), a member of the Hobitat Social Service Group from the Department of Architecture, and Lee Jonghyun (sophomore), a member of the PTSC Social Service Group from the Department of Physical Therapy, received the Volunteer Award (Director of Love Sharing Center Award).
Lee Jonghyun was recognized for his contributions to providing physical therapy services for local residents and participating in on-campus rural volunteer activities, while Park Ain received the award for his volunteer work repairing homes in rural areas.
President Park Sangcheol stated, “Students’ participation in volunteer activities is a valuable experience that contributes to the local community and fosters personal development and growth,” and added, “I hope that even after graduation, students will continue to actively participate in social contribution activities, building on their volunteer experiences during their school years.”
