Yoon Sang-hyun, a member of the People Power Party, spoke out about the movement calling for his expulsion amid his remark that the disturbance at the Seoul Western District Court would "soon be let off with a warning."

On the 22nd, Yoon posted on his social media account, "A resolution calling for my expulsion has been submitted to the National Assembly." He stated, "If you are terrified to the point of shuddering by the three major cartels threatening the system of the Republic of Korea?the pro-North leftist cartel, the corrupt election commission cartel, and the leftist judiciary cartel?then expel me." He added, "Whether conservative or progressive, if you want to expel me because I have stepped forward with a desperate heart not to leave a world where fairness and common sense collapse to the younger generation, then do so." He continued, "If you think it is a crime to protect the Republic of Korea, where liberal democracy is collapsing due to political bias, then expel me," emphasizing, "If those who call themselves progressives block the free and just public discourse and head down the path of censorship, then trample over me and move on."

He also appealed, "If my expulsion allows young people to freely express their opinions and open the future, if my expulsion ends the heinous parliamentary dictatorship, if my expulsion ends confrontational politics, and if my expulsion restores fairness in the Republic of Korea, I will willingly throw myself onto the altar of justice." Furthermore, Yoon said, "Even if the power and tyranny of the parliamentary dictatorship led by the Democratic Party threaten me, my conviction will not bend," adding, "Even if you twist a chicken's neck, dawn will come."

Earlier, on the 18th, Yoon participated in a protest opposing the detention of President Yoon Suk-yeol held in front of the Seoul Western District Court. Afterwards, he mentioned, "I spoke with officials because 17 young people were in a detention center after climbing over the fence, and it seems they will soon be let off with a warning." The opposition claimed that Yoon's remarks "incited and provoked a 'riot' by some far-right forces."

On the afternoon of the 21st, five opposition parties (the Democratic Party, the Party for National Innovation, the Progressive Party, the Social Democratic Party, and the Basic Income Party) submitted a resolution to the National Assembly Secretariat calling for Yoon's expulsion. The resolution stated, "To restore the dignity, honor, and authority of a member of the National Assembly and to prevent the unhappy history of the Republic of Korea from repeating, we strongly urge the expulsion of Representative Yoon."

Kang Yoo-jung, the Democratic Party floor spokesperson, emphasized after the submission of the expulsion proposal, "Yoon's remarks, which were close to a promise, induced the act and thus cannot be free from responsibility." Jeong Chun-saeng, the senior deputy floor leader of the Party for National Innovation, said, "Yoon, a five-term lawmaker, appeared to incite the rioters by saying they 'could be let off with a warning.'" Jeon Jong-deok, a Progressive Party lawmaker, also pointed out, "A person without any authority promising leniency by overstepping their bounds is unqualified as a member of the National Assembly who must abide by the Constitution and laws."
