OpenAI, SoftBank, and Oracle to Establish Joint AI Venture
Initial Investment of $100 Billion to Expand to $500 Billion

U.S. President Donald Trump, on the second day of his inauguration, will announce a new artificial intelligence (AI) investment plan worth up to $500 billion (approximately 718 trillion won), led by Japan's SoftBank, OpenAI, and Oracle. As President Trump hinted at easing AI regulations, companies are also enthusiastically opening their 'investment purses' to align with Trump's pro-AI stance in his second term.

According to foreign media such as CBS News and Bloomberg on the 21st (local time), President Trump will present the new AI investment plan at the White House in the afternoon, together with SoftBank Chairman Masayoshi Son, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, and Oracle Chairman Larry Ellison.

These three companies will establish a joint venture called 'Stargate' and invest an initial $100 billion (approximately 144 trillion won). It is reported that the investment will expand up to $500 billion over the next four years.

However, it is not yet known whether SoftBank's investment is separate from the U.S. investment announced by Chairman Son last month or if it is included in the previously announced investment plan. Earlier, Chairman Son visited Mar-a-Lago Resort in Palm Beach, Florida, the residence of President Trump, last month and announced a $100 billion U.S. investment plan.

According to sources, Stargate, the joint venture established by these three companies, is an AI infrastructure-related company. It is said to start a data center project in Texas and expand to other states.

Details about the new partnership have not been disclosed, but other investors are expected to participate in this joint venture.

Among the 78 executive orders, including those signed by former President Joe Biden, that President Trump revoked on the day before his inauguration, AI regulations were included. The executive order titled 'Safe and Trustworthy Development and Use of AI,' which took effect in October 2023 and focused on AI regulation, was revoked. President Trump has suggested easing regulations, stating that AI regulations hinder technological innovation.
