According to Seoul City on the 21st, the city, Gyeonggi Province, Incheon City, and Korea Railroad Corporation (KORAIL) recently held a meeting and agreed to raise the basic subway fare from the current 1,400 won to 1,550 won.

Previously, on August 12, 2023, the city raised the fares for Seoul trunk and branch city buses by 300 won, and on October 7 of the same year, increased the basic subway fare by 150 won. At that time, the city planned to raise subway fares in two phases, but due to the government's price stabilization policy, the additional increase did not actually take place.

However, the exact timing of the fare increase has not been determined. It is highly likely that the increase will take place as early as the first half of this year once the necessary related procedures are completed.
