Ya5dang Submits Resolution Urging Expulsion of Yoon Sang-hyun... "Inciting Riot Situation"

On the 21st, the five opposition parties submitted a resolution urging the expulsion of Yoon Sang-hyun, a member of the People Power Party, for allegedly inciting and provoking the 'Seoul Western District Court riot incident.'

The five opposition parties (the Democratic Party of Korea, the Party for Innovation and Justice, the Progressive Party, the Social Democratic Party, and the Basic Income Party) announced that they submitted the resolution urging Yoon's expulsion to the National Assembly Secretariat in the afternoon.

The resolution stated, "To restore the dignity of a member of the National Assembly and the honor and authority of the National Assembly, and to prevent the repetition of Korea's unfortunate history, we strongly urge the expulsion of Representative Yoon."

Earlier, on the 18th, Representative Yoon participated in a protest against the detention of President Yoon Seok-yeol in front of the Western District Court. Yoon mentioned, "Seventeen young people are in detention after climbing over the fence, and I spoke with the officials; it seems they will soon be released with a warning." The opposition claims that Yoon's remarks incited and provoked some far-right groups into the 'riot incident.'

Kang Yoo-jung, the Democratic Party's floor spokesperson, emphasized in a meeting with reporters after the submission of the expulsion resolution, "Yoon's remarks, which were close to promises, induced the act and thus he cannot be free from responsibility."

Jung Chun-saeng, the senior deputy floor leader of the Party for Innovation and Justice, said, "Yoon, a five-term lawmaker, appeared to encourage the rioters by saying they could be released with a warning," and Jeon Jong-deok, a member of the Progressive Party, also pointed out, "A person without any authority promising release with a warning oversteps his bounds and is unqualified as a member of the National Assembly who must abide by the Constitution and laws."

Kwon Seong-dong, the floor leader of the People Power Party, met with reporters after a floor strategy meeting at the National Assembly and criticized, "Is there any violation of the criminal law by Representative Yoon? Expulsion means stripping a member of the National Assembly of their qualification. This is an excessively harsh political attack."
