Goyang Special City in Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Lee Dong-hwan) announced on the 21st that it will actively promote the dignified 'Public Building Construction Project' in the 8th term of the elected government.

The 'Public Building Construction Project' not only ensures dignified design and efficient space composition but also secures financial soundness for sustainable operation. It enhances the value of buildings by improving both interior and exterior designs, strengthening facility design such as outdoor landscaping and nighttime scenery.

The city focuses on quickly constructing sports centers, libraries, parking lots, and other facilities that reflect local characteristics and residents' needs to improve chronic regional issues.

In particular, for the construction of the Ilsandong-gu Public Health Center building, to solve the chronic parking shortage in the densely populated single-family housing areas of Baekseok 1 and 2-dong, an additional public parking lot with a capacity of 100 cars is being constructed underground. Various rest areas are also planned to enhance user convenience, and rental spaces will be created to strengthen the city’s financial soundness.

Mayor Lee Dong-hwan of Goyang Special City stated, "Public buildings are essential facilities directly connected to improving quality of life and are major facilities that determine the urban landscape. Since a huge budget is invested, we will strive to ensure that dignified design improvements receive appropriate recognition of their value."

Goyang Special City plans to start construction on three additional large public buildings (IP Convergence Content Cluster, Baekseok National Sports Center, Tanhyeon Sports Center) in 2025, in addition to the four large public buildings currently under construction (Ilsandong-gu Public Health Center building, Lifelong Learning Center and Comprehensive Welfare Dream Center for the Disabled, Wonheung Complex Cultural Center, Baekma Overpass Underpass Space Regeneration).
