Participation Time Increased
Customized and Elective Programs Offered
Gwangju Metropolitan Office of Education announced the 'Gwangju Neulbom School Plan' on the 21st.
This year, Neulbom School will operate under the slogan "Neulbom is Gwangju Neulbom with the Whole (On) Village Together (Da)," integrating the existing first-grade customized programs, elementary after-school programs, and elementary care classes.
Neulbom School is divided into customized programs, elective education programs (formerly after-school programs), and elective care programs (formerly elementary care classes).
First, with the full implementation of Neulbom School in the second semester last year, the customized program that was provided to first-grade elementary students will be expanded to include first and second graders starting this year. In particular, fun and diverse programs tailored to developmental stages will be provided free of charge for two hours each day.
The existing after-school program will be operated as an 'elective education program.' The elective education program will be available to first through sixth graders who wish to participate, with costs borne by the beneficiaries. However, first graders will receive annual support of 720,000 won to freely choose and participate in programs.
The elementary care class will be renamed as the 'elective care program.' Through time-based management, linkage with customized and elective education programs, and the use of off-campus facilities, any first or second grader who wishes may participate in the care program.
If there are applicants, morning and evening Neulbom programs will also be operated. Morning Neulbom will be held for about an hour before regular classes according to each school's circumstances, and evening Neulbom will be conducted in cooperation with the school or local community.
In addition, each school will assign a Neulbom Support Researcher to ensure systematic and high-quality support.
Superintendent Lee Jeongseon said, "Last year, the satisfaction rate among participants in Gwangju Neulbom School reached 93.1%, showing many achievements. This year as well, we will do our best so that every student in Gwangju can enjoy and be satisfied with Neulbom education, which provides warm care and high-quality educational programs."
