"Sent to an Acquaintance...
Unrelated to the Presidential Office"
Mr. A, an administrative officer at the Presidential Office who sparked controversy by sending a text message urging supporters of President Yoon Suk-yeol to gather at the Constitutional Court, has submitted his resignation letter.
A Presidential Office official stated on the 21st, "Mr. A sent the message personally to an acquaintance he knows well," adding, "It is not related to the Presidential Office."
Mr. A, who identified himself as an administrative officer at the Presidential Office, sent a text message the previous day saying, "Tomorrow at 2 PM, the President will appear in person at the Constitutional Court. Support is needed," and "Please cheer for the President everywhere from Anguk Station to the Constitutional Court," which caused controversy.
The Presidential Office explained that Mr. A had consistently expressed his intention to resign and submitted his resignation following the controversy. They said that as unnecessary controversy spread due to the message sent to an acquaintance, he ultimately decided to resign.
