Chairman Heo Kyung-haeng and 10 Gwangju City Council members (Park Sang-young, Choi Seo-yoon, Oh Hyun-joo, Jo Ye-ran, Joo Im-rok, Lee Eun-chae, Noh Young-jun, Hwang So-je, Lee Joo-hoon, Wang Jeong-hoon) who attended the Gyeongan Market shopping event took time to listen to the difficulties faced by small business owners struggling with weakened consumer sentiment and economic recession, and supported the revitalization of the traditional market by purchasing local agricultural products with Onnuri gift certificates.
To promote the culture of sharing in the local community and encourage facility staff during the Lunar New Year holiday, the Gwangju City Council members visited Pumanui Jip (a welfare facility for the disabled located in Gonjiam-eup), carefully checking whether users had any inconveniences in their daily lives, and listened to the current operation status and difficulties through conversations with facility workers. In addition, considering the situation of other private social welfare facilities, consolation was delivered non-face-to-face to five child welfare facilities.
Chairman Heo Kyung-haeng said through this Lunar New Year event, “Although everyone is going through difficult times, I hope this Lunar New Year will be a warm holiday that looks after the marginalized and struggling neighbors around us,” and added, “The City Council will also spare no policy efforts to ensure that no marginalized neighbors in the local community live uncomfortably.”
