The Dangjin City Council in Chungnam held a meeting with local individual taxi stakeholders in the main conference room of the council on the 20th to seek solutions for alleviating citizen inconvenience and improving the transportation system.

Attending the meeting were Yoon Myungsoo, Chair of the Industrial and Construction Committee, city council members, Park Yonggil, head of the Dangjin branch of the Chungnam Individual Taxi Association, and about 20 other related officials who exchanged various opinions.

During the meeting with the Dangjin branch of the Chungnam Individual Taxi Association, topics discussed included installing taxi bays in new town areas, strengthening crackdowns on illegal paid transportation activities, and expanding the coverage areas for the Haengbok Taxi service.

Park Yonggil, the branch head, emphasized, "To alleviate traffic congestion and improve the working environment, it is necessary to install taxi bays," and added, "Cooperation and support are urgently needed to improve the transportation environment."

He also requested, "Please raise the reward for reporting illegal paid transportation activities from 200,000 won to 300,000 won, and significantly expand the areas covered by the Haengbok Taxi service."

An official from the city’s transportation department responded, "Installing taxi bays in existing apartment complexes faces practical difficulties such as land acquisition, but we will review the possibility in new town areas based on transportation networks and demand," and added, "Instead of increasing rewards for crackdowns on illegal paid transportation, we will consider more effective measures such as introducing enforcement equipment."

Yoon Myungsoo, Chair of the Industrial and Construction Committee, stated, "Transportation is a crucial matter directly connected to the daily lives of citizens," and added, "Based on the opinions discussed today, the council will do its best to reflect them in policies to alleviate citizen inconvenience and improve the transportation system."
