BHI Strengthens US LNG Strategy... "Will Continue Overseas Order Growth Momentum"

BHI announced on the 21st that it is strengthening its sales activities in North America centered on its local subsidiary in the United States, ‘BHI-FW.’

As the scale of investment in liquefied natural gas (LNG) power generation infrastructure expands worldwide, and with the change of administration, the LNG market in the United States is expected to grow rapidly, prompting the company to expand its presence.

BHI-FW originated from the U.S.-based global engineering company Foster Wheeler. In 2017, BHI acquired the boiler business division of Foster Wheeler from the UK-based multinational company AMEC PLC, making BHI-FW a subsidiary of BHI.

In 2020, BHI secured the core technology of combined cycle power generation heat recovery steam generators (HRSG) from Foster Wheeler, laying the foundation to play a leading role in the global LNG power generation market. BHI has grown into a leading company exporting HRSGs worldwide, including to Japan, the Middle East, and the United States, as well as domestically.

Based on local expertise, BHI plans to actively pursue new related projects in line with the expansion of the LNG power generation market in the United States. Having already gained successful experience supplying LNG power generation infrastructure in the U.S., the company expects to further strengthen its competitiveness in the market.

In 2014, BHI successfully supplied two 380MW-class combined cycle power generation HRSG units to Calpine, a local natural gas power and geothermal power plant operator.

A BHI official stated, "We are expanding opportunities in the North American LNG market centered on our U.S. local subsidiary BHI-FW. Going forward, we will maximize order momentum through various channels in line with changes in the U.S. power generation market and continue to steadily strengthen our competitiveness in the global market."
