Jeon Hangil's 'Election Fraud' Claim... Shim Yonghwan Says "Following the Crowd Is Truly Wrong"

Professor Shim Yonghwan Criticizes
"Intellectuals Who Only Seek Money Are Pathetic"

Jeon Han-gil, regarded as a top Korean history instructor, raised suspicions of "election fraud," prompting historian Shim Yong-hwan, an adjunct professor at Sungkonghoe University, to raise his voice, saying, "It is shameful."

Jeon Hangil's 'Election Fraud' Claim... Shim Yonghwan Says "Following the Crowd Is Truly Wrong" Korean history lecturer Jeon Han-gil uploaded a video titled "The Confusion in South Korea Was Caused by the National Election Commission" on his YouTube channel 'Kkotboda Jeon Han-gil,' raising a conspiracy theory about election fraud. On the 20th, Professor Shim targeted Jeon on his social media (SNS), stating, "Do not try to convert the fame given to you into money and power," and pointed out, "One must have the insight to overcome immediate conflicts and maintain a perspective that allows for foresight even when fighting current issues."

Earlier, Jeon posted a video titled "The Confusion in Korea Was Caused by the National Election Commission" on his YouTube channel "Kkotboda Jeon Han-gil," raising conspiracy theories about election fraud.

Jeon claimed, "The president who declared martial law was not actually defeated in the election but rather elected. So why did he intervene in the issues with the National Election Commission? I became suspicious and looked into many materials, and the more I looked, the more shocked I was," adding, "Did the president declare martial law to ensure that election fraud would be corrected?"

In response, Professor Shim rebutted, "Our country uses both electronic and manual ballots," and "It is one of the best-managed election systems in the world."

He continued, "Our country is excessively politicized. It feels like politics controls everything, and everything in the world seems divided into left and right," and asked, "Does history divide things into left and right? Shouldn't it rather criticize, suggest, and participate in various worldly issues, including politics, from a broader perspective?"

Professor Shim said, "Why do intellectuals keep becoming so insignificant?" and sharply criticized, "Because they lower their knowledge to the level of commentators, parasitize on factional logic, or only seek money and fame."

He added, "Intellectuals must follow the path of intellectuals. No matter how much of an instructor one is, even if one has not majored in the field, or only carries a title without any current effort, such herd mentality is truly wrong," concluding, "It is an indescribably shameful morning."
