Taean County in Chungnam, which is leading the creation of compact smart cities, announced on the 20th that it has won the Grand Prize in the Mobility Design category at the '2024 30th Korea Best Design Awards'.

The Korea Best Design Awards, hosted and organized by the Korea Society of Product and Cultural Design and sponsored by the Korea Federation of Design Associations, is a competition that selects the best brands and designs in various fields such as product and public design.

Taean County was recognized for its achievements in creating a compact smart city based on mobility experiences to respond to population changes and support the revitalization of local industries, starting with its selection for the compact smart city project contest in 2023 and working together with its entrusted organization, the Chungnam Information and Culture Industry Promotion Agency.

The county is investing a total project cost of 26.5 billion KRW, including national funds, and is currently promoting 11 projects this year in collaboration with the Chungnam Information and Culture Industry Promotion Agency, Hanseo University, Hyundai Urban Development, Hyundai Motor Company, Taean Passenger, Pablo Air, Pintel, Ininos, Admira, and Geumsaem General Construction.

Through these efforts, the county plans to concentrate various smart services for the elderly in the old downtown area to promote residents' health and convenience of mobility, while in the corporate city, it aims to vitalize the mobility experience-based tourism industry by connecting various mobility resources such as Taean County UV Land and Hyundai Driving Center with the Adventure Tour Station, a smart hub space.

County Governor Gasero said, "I am pleased that our efforts to create a compact smart city where both the old downtown and the corporate city can grow have been recognized," and added, "We will do our best together with participating organizations to ensure the successful implementation of the project."
