Dobong-gu Signs Business Agreement with Korea Railroad Corporation for New Banghak Station Construction
Both Organizations to Cooperate for Swift Project Progress... District to Actively Support Related Permits and Approvals
On January 17th, the signing of a business agreement between Dobong-gu and Korea Railroad Corporation is expected to accelerate the construction of the new Banghak Station building.
Dobong-gu (Mayor Oh Eon-seok) announced that on this day, a business agreement was signed with Korea Railroad Corporation in the mayor's office at Dobong-gu Office to improve the aging Banghak Station on the Gyeongwon Line.
According to this agreement, the two organizations agreed to mutually cooperate to promptly advance the project to upgrade the aging Banghak Station building.
The district will actively support related permits and approvals to prevent delays caused by unresolved issues such as building registers and occupancy of national and public land.
Approximately 25.4 billion KRW, combining national funds and Korea Railroad Corporation's budget, will be invested in the new Banghak Station construction. Currently, detailed design is underway with the goal of starting construction by the end of 2025. The expected completion date is 2028.
Banghak Station will be built according to the design selected in the March design competition last year. It will be a total of three stories, with a new southern station building and Exit 4 being added. Additionally, escalators will be newly installed at Exits 1 and 2.
A district official stated, “Considering the future opening of the Ui-Banghak light rail and the integrated transfer station, we plan to maximize resident accessibility by carefully arranging the facilities.”
Oh Eon-seok, Mayor of Dobong-gu, said, “Banghak Station will play an important role as a transfer station between the Gyeongwon Line (Line 1) and the Ui-Banghak light rail. Since many residents are expected to use it, we will pay close attention to ensuring a comfortable environment for subway users.”
Regarding the inclusion of Dobong Station and Nokcheon Station in the aging station improvement project, he added, “Starting with Banghak Station, we will work even more closely with Korea Railroad Corporation to ensure smooth progress at Dobong and Nokcheon Stations as well.”
