The Special Investigation Unit of the National Police Agency's National Investigation Headquarters (Guksubon) stated in a press release that "around 5:10 PM, we received a notice of inability to execute from the Security Office and withdrew," adding, "We requested voluntary submission, and they asked for a written response."

Earlier, on the 27th of last month, the Special Investigation Unit sent investigators to the Samcheong-dong Safe House and the Presidential Office, presenting a search warrant for the seizure of CCTV footage from the Safe House. However, the Security Office did not approve entry, leading to a standoff of about three hours before returning empty-handed.

At that time, the Security Office refused the search and seizure citing official and military confidentiality. Under the Criminal Procedure Act, search and seizure of locations involving military or official secrets require the consent of the person in charge. However, the person responsible for the location must comply with the search and seizure unless it harms significant national interests.

The police plan to secure the CCTV footage and verify who entered and exited the Safe House before and after the declaration of martial law, as well as what instructions were received from President Yoon Seok-yeol.
