Organizational Name Changed in Last Month's Restructuring
Na Kihong Appointed as Head of the Cooperation Office
Samsung Electronics' Vietnam Complex is changing its organizational name to the Vietnam Samsung Strategic Cooperation Office. This appears to be aimed at further strengthening the cooperative organization with affiliates to expand its business in Vietnam.
According to local Vietnamese media and related industries on the 20th, Samsung Electronics reportedly renamed the Vietnam Complex to the Vietnam Samsung Strategic Cooperation Office during last month's regular personnel and organizational restructuring.
The Vietnam Complex has been responsible for managing production plants in Vietnam as well as various external cooperation and communication with Samsung affiliates within Vietnam.
This organizational name change is interpreted as an effort to further specify the organization's role amid Samsung's continuous expansion of its business in Vietnam and the growing importance of external cooperation with affiliates.
The head of the Vietnam Samsung Strategic Cooperation Office, the director position, will be succeeded by Vice Chairman Na Ki-hong of Samsung Electronics, taking over from Vice Chairman Choi Ju-ho, who led the organization for over six years since 2018. The appointment date is March 1.
The new director Na joined Samsung Electronics in 1990 as part of the semiconductor HR team and has handled HR-related tasks at the Talent Development Institute, DMC Research Institute, and Wireless Business Division. In 2020, he was promoted to Vice Chairman and head of the People (HR) team in the Management Support Office.
Meanwhile, Samsung owns six production facilities and one research and development (R&D) center in Vietnam, employing approximately 90,000 workers. Samsung Electronics is the largest foreign direct investment (FDI) company in Vietnam, accounting for about 20% of the country's total exports.
