Observing Personal Hygiene Guidelines

Jangsu County in North Jeolla Province will visit 38 senior centers in the area by the 18th of next month to conduct "On-site Senior Center Infectious Disease Prevention and Management Education."

According to the county on the 20th, this preventive education covers the main symptoms and prevention guidelines for tick-borne infectious diseases (Tsutsugamushi disease, SFTS), proper handwashing to prevent winter respiratory infections, and daily quarantine practices such as observing cough etiquette.

Prevention guidelines for tick-borne infectious diseases include wearing long clothing, using repellents, avoiding grassy areas, and showering and washing clothes after returning home. If symptoms such as fever, muscle aches, and scab formation appear within 10 days after outdoor activities, tick-borne infectious diseases should be suspected and a medical institution should be visited.

The county emphasized that, with the recent spread of influenza (flu), it is important to follow personal hygiene rules in daily life to prevent infection, such as washing hands with soap under running water for at least 30 seconds and wearing a mask when symptoms occur.

Wi Sangyang, Director of the Public Health Center, said, "We hope that the on-site senior center infectious disease prevention and management education during the agricultural off-season will help seniors develop healthy and proper health habits."
