Miryang Arirang Arts Foundation Successfully Concludes Musical Drama 'Nal Jom Boso' Performance

Miryang Arirang Filled with Modern Sensibility and Reinterpretations

Miryang City in Gyeongnam announced on the 20th that the Miryang Arirang Music and Dance Drama ‘Nal Jom Boso’ held at the Miryang Arirang Art Center Grand Theater successfully concluded with enthusiastic responses from over 1,000 audience members.

The performance held on the 18th was a meaningful event where the Arirang Young Talent Group, affiliated with the Miryang Arirang Arts Troupe, reinterpreted Miryang’s traditional agricultural culture and play culture from a modern perspective, reflecting on the historical value of Miryang. The Arirang Young Talent Group, composed of 52 elementary, middle, and high school students from the area, presented various performances based on Miryang Arirang, delivering deep emotion and enjoyment to the audience.

In particular, this performance was filled with works that reinterpreted Miryang Arirang, Miryang’s unique intangible cultural heritage, with a modern sensibility. Award-winning pieces from various competitions such as ‘Ganggangsullae,’ ‘Jeompiljae Arirang,’ ‘Gaksipul,’ ‘Wiyeocha Arirang,’ ‘Saeteo Arirang,’ and ‘Arirang Dongdong’ were staged, and the performance created by young artists, the future of Miryang, became an opportunity to further enhance the cultural pride of Miryang citizens.

Mayor Ahn Byung-gu said, “Congratulations on being selected for two consecutive years in the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism’s regional representative arts troupe support project. In line with this, Miryang City will actively support the production and creative activities of cultural and artistic works that embody the value of Miryang Arirang.”
