"A Serious Crime That Denies the Judicial System"
The prosecution decided to form a dedicated investigation team to respond strictly to the violent intrusion incident at the Seoul Western District Court that occurred in the early morning of the 19th.
The Supreme Prosecutors' Office stated in a press release that "the illegal violent occupation protests carried out at the Western District Court and nearby from last night until early this morning are very serious crimes that completely deny the rule of law and the judicial system," and "we have instructed the Seoul Western District Prosecutors' Office to form a dedicated team to respond strictly."
The dedicated team will be composed of nine prosecutors, including Shin Dong-won, the deputy chief prosecutor of the Western District Prosecutors' Office, who will serve as the team leader.
The prosecution said, "We will work closely with the police to conduct a strict investigation, including arresting all major participants, and will do our best to ensure that punishments commensurate with the crimes, such as requesting heavy sentences, are imposed."
Supporters of President Yoon continued their rally at the Western District Court starting a day before the pre-arrest detention hearing (warrant review) was held. Around 3 a.m. that day, when the arrest warrant was issued, they stormed into the court, damaged property, and assaulted police officers.
