Choi Sang-mok, Acting President and Deputy Prime Minister as well as Minister of Economy and Finance, attended the joint memorial ceremony for the 'Jeju Air Disaster,' paying tribute to the victims with flower offerings and a moment of silence, and offering condolences to the bereaved families.
On the 18th, at the '12·29 Jeju Air Passenger Plane Disaster Joint Memorial Ceremony' held at Muan International Airport in Jeollanam-do, Acting President Choi said, "I extend my deepest condolences and sympathy to the families who lost their beloved ones," and added, "I also deeply thank the citizens across the country who visited the joint memorial altars to mourn the victims and share in the pain."
He continued, "The government has mobilized all available resources to manage the aftermath of the disaster and support the funeral procedures," emphasizing, "We will do everything possible to heal the pain of the bereaved families and help them return to their daily lives."
Regarding the investigation into the cause of the accident, he pledged transparency, stating, "The daily lives and safety of the people are the most precious values," and added, "We will make every effort to create a safer society so that such a tragedy never happens again."
