The Home Medical Care Benefit Project is a program led by the Ministry of Health and Welfare aimed at improving the quality of life for medical benefit recipients.
In July of last year, the Ministry of Health and Welfare expanded the Home Medical Care Benefit Project nationwide and designated ‘Supervision Institutions for the Home Medical Care Benefit Project’ to share operational know-how and practical cases of pilot project institutions with newly participating regions.
Namyangju City was recognized for its capabilities by being selected as the only institution in Gyeonggi Province among the 10 nationwide institutions designated as supervision institutions for the Home Medical Care Benefit Project.
Hwaseong City conducted this benchmarking to learn about Namyangju City’s specific operational experience and implementation plans during the process of newly promoting the Home Medical Care Benefit Project. During the visit, detailed project consultations were held, including case management of recipients and the establishment of public-private cooperation networks.
A medical benefit manager who participated in the benchmarking said, “It was impressive to see Namyangju City discovering not only existing resources but also new resources to support recipients in various ways,” and added, “We will strive to apply this know-how in our city as well.”
Yang Hyun-mo, Director of the Welfare Bureau, said, “We are pleased to share Namyangju City’s efforts to improve the quality of life for medical benefit recipients,” and added, “We will continue to actively work to ensure the project is stably promoted.”
Meanwhile, since participating in the Home Medical Care Benefit pilot project in 2019, Namyangju City has identified 129 recipients to date and contributed to the revitalization of the project by achieving about 1 billion KRW in medical expense savings compared to hospitalization.
