Webtoon artist and broadcaster Gian84 (real name Kim Heemin) sparked controversy with his remark, "When you meet a woman who doesn't make breakfast, you somehow feel like you might cheat with a muscular guy at the swimming pool or with a young trainer at the gym," which became a hot topic.
On the 16th, a video titled "A Day of My Sister-in-Law" was released on Gian84's YouTube channel 'Life84.' The video showed Gian84 and actress Lee Si-eon's wife Seo Jiseung riding a bus together heading to a cafe in Hongdae.
The problematic comment began when Gian84 asked Seo Jiseung, "Does he make breakfast for you?" Seo Jiseung replied, "If oppa (Lee Si-eon) doesn't have a schedule, he tends to make it." Gian84 then asked again, "Does Si-eon hyung keep telling you to prepare breakfast?" When Seo Jiseung denied it, Gian84 showed envy, saying, "Even though he didn't ask, you still make it for him."

Gian84 continued, "What men obsess over is breakfast," adding, "People ask why I’m so obsessed with breakfast, but it’s not about the food; it’s the feeling that I’m being cared for." He then stated, "When you meet a woman who doesn’t make breakfast, you somehow feel like you might cheat with a muscular guy at the swimming pool or with a young trainer at the gym." In response, Seo Jiseung laughed incredulously and asked, "Hey, has anyone ever done that?" Gian84 replied, "Because I see a lot of disturbing articles on the internet." Seo Jiseung advised, "If you have that kind of mindset, you’ll meet that kind of person. You need to get rid of those negative thoughts."
Shortly after the video was released, some netizens criticized his remarks as 'misogynistic.' They commented, "Does that mean the wife should obviously make the food?" "Where are there couples nowadays where both don’t work? Such remarks..." "What does it have to do with suspecting cheating if breakfast isn’t made?" "Imagining cheating just because of breakfast is too much." On the other hand, some defended Gian84, saying, "Knowing Gian84’s personality, it was probably said without any serious intent," "It seems like he was just trying to be funny," and "He probably wasn’t serious."
Meanwhile, Gian84 was involved in a similar controversy in 2020. When his webtoon 'Return to School King' faced accusations of misogyny, he partially revised the work and apologized. Despite the apology, the backlash was severe, leading Gian84 to leave the MBC TV variety show 'I Live Alone,' in which he was appearing. He returned after five weeks.
