This workshop was organized as part of the "Next-Generation Semiconductor Materials, Parts, and Equipment Post-Process Specialized Workforce Training Project," in which both universities are participating. It aimed to share the latest trends in the semiconductor industry and plasma technology and to discuss strategies for training specialized personnel. Approximately 50 participants attended the event, including faculty members and students from both universities, as well as experts from the semiconductor and bio sectors.

The workshop covered key topics such as △ industrial applications of plasma technology △ directions for developing plasma application technologies △ the necessity of specialized workforce training. Additionally, experts from various institutions, including the Korea Institute of Fusion Energy and the Pohang Institute of Industrial Science and Technology, participated in in-depth discussions.

Choi Yong-seop, Director of the Plasma Technology Research Center at the Korea Institute of Fusion Energy, stated, “National-level support is necessary to train master's and doctoral-level specialists specialized in the plasma industry,” adding, “We expect to establish a cooperative system for workforce training and technology development that meets industry demands.”

Lee Kwang-joo, Dean of Graduate School at Korea University of Technology and Education, said, “Both universities will expand industry-tailored master's and doctoral-level specialized workforce training and in-service education through various cooperative programs such as credit exchange.”

The "Next-Generation Semiconductor Materials, Parts, and Equipment Post-Process Specialized Workforce Training Project" is supported by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and the Korea Institute for Advancement of Technology, running from this year through 2028. Eleven universities, including Korea University of Technology and Education and Korea Polytechnic University, are participating with the goal of nurturing talent tailored to the demands of the semiconductor industry.
