Uijeongbu City (Mayor Kim Dong-geun) announced the design plan for the ‘Camp Red Cloud Design Cluster Development’ project, carried out in collaboration with Konkuk University Graduate School of Architecture, on the 16th at the city hall situation room.

This collaboration is a joint research conducted by the city and Konkuk University since the second half of last year, preparing five project design plans proposing ‘urban architecture’ suitable for a sustainable city targeting the existing buildings within CRC.

At the presentation, under the theme of ‘Preservation, Adaptation, Transformation,’ proposals were made to realize sustainable urban architecture by preserving the modern and contemporary historical value of CRC while utilizing existing buildings and redesigning their functions.

Following the preservation plan for 16 existing buildings announced in December last year, Uijeongbu City further specified the design cluster development project through this design plan. Moreover, the city plans to continue focusing its capabilities on the CRC design cluster development in the future.

Mayor Kim Dong-geun said, “This collaboration with Konkuk University has injected new momentum into the CRC design cluster development project that the city is promoting,” adding, “We will develop it as a design cluster that preserves the modern and contemporary history intact and connects the values of the past and future, returning it to the citizens.”
