Gyeonggi Province Governor Kim Dong-yeon will participate in the ‘2025 World Economic Forum (WEF)’ held in Davos, Switzerland, by official invitation for the second consecutive year. This year’s event will take place from the 18th to the 24th (local time).
The World Economic Forum (WEF), better known as the Davos Forum, holds such authority and influence that it is often called the ‘World Economic Olympics.’ Attendance is limited to invited guests only, bringing together the world’s prominent business leaders, economists, politicians, and journalists to discuss economic issues and seek international practical solutions. It is the world’s largest brainstorming conference.
Among domestic politicians and local government heads, Governor Kim Dong-yeon is the only one invited to attend the World Economic Forum.
Kang Min-seok, spokesperson for Gyeonggi Province, stated, “The significance of participating in this year’s Davos Forum is greater than ever, and the responsibility is immense, as it is a place to set the agenda and discuss solutions in various fields such as global politics, economy, and society at the beginning of the new year, and to talk about Korea’s situation.” He added, “Governor Kim plans to make every effort to restore the national image and enhance international credibility on behalf of Korea.”
Governor Kim will participate in two special sessions at this year’s Davos Forum.

First, on the 21st, Governor Kim will conduct a ‘Media Leader Briefing’ in front of major global journalists, focusing on the political situation in Korea following the December 3 emergency martial law incident and the economic outlook.
Two days later, on the 23rd, he will attend the ‘International Gathering of World Economic Leaders (IGWEL).’ Chaired by Kristalina Georgieva, Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), this meeting is a closed-door session attended only by high-level officials such as finance ministers, central bank governors, and representatives of international organizations from major countries. The discussion topic this time is ‘Sustainable Growth in an Era of Volatility.’
In addition, Governor Kim will engage in bilateral meetings with heads of state gathered at the Davos Forum to conduct sales diplomacy and will meet with CEOs of global companies to discuss investment attraction issues in Gyeonggi Province.
