Bucheon City in Gyeonggi Province will provide emergency heating cost support for vulnerable groups struggling with the cold wave. The city will urgently support low-income households facing difficulties due to the cold wave with one month’s heating costs for January through the Gyeonggi-do Disaster Relief Fund.
The support targets 19,500 households of basic livelihood security recipients and near-poverty groups registered in Bucheon as of the 3rd, providing 50,000 KRW per household once. However, those eligible for Gyeonggi-do senior winter heating cost support and disability heating cost projects are excluded.
For prompt support, households with welfare benefit accounts will receive payment on the 17th without a separate application, while households with seizure-protected accounts and those not receiving welfare benefits will be paid by the 24th through investigation and application at their local administrative welfare centers.
The concentrated application period for heating cost support is until the 23rd. Applicants can visit their local administrative welfare center with their ID and a copy of their bankbook or apply by phone. The heating cost support will be paid in cash to the recipient’s account, and additional payments will be made in February if any omissions occur.
Mayor Jo Yong-ik stated, "The cold wave and rising prices during winter are increasing difficulties for low-income groups. Through emergency heating cost support, we will protect the safe daily lives of low-income citizens and carefully ensure that no one in crisis situations is left without economic assistance."
Meanwhile, Bucheon City is promoting an emergency welfare support project for households facing crises such as livelihood difficulties and plans to provide prompt support if welfare blind spot households experiencing winter hardships arise.
