Choo Mi-ae: "Yoon, nicknamed Baekho, shows his true self... pathetic and petty to the end"

Choo Mi-ae, a member of the Democratic Party of Korea, expressed her thoughts on the arrest of President Yoon Seok-yeol, saying, "The world has recognized the true nature of the ugly monster after four years." She previously served as the Minister of Justice under the Moon Jae-in administration and fiercely clashed with then Prosecutor General Yoon over issues such as investigation command rights and suspension from duty, leading to the so-called 'Choo-Yoon conflict.'

On the 15th, Choo posted on her social media, "Daeh?, Baekho. Friends and investigators reportedly called (President Yoon) that during his time as a prosecutor," she began. She continued, "However, the world has recognized the true nature of the ugly monster after four years," adding, "Unfortunately, too much pain and cost were paid in the meantime."

Choo criticized, "Finally, by being arrested on charges of leading a rebellion, he has brought down the nation's dignity and made the people feel empty and ashamed," and said, "His retreating figure was neither dignified until the end nor respectable but petty and narrow-minded."

She further pointed out, "Just as he contested every procedure and filed recusals against all disciplinary committee members to mock the law when his illegal acts were exposed and he was disciplined four years ago, he repeated his bad habits by claiming the arrest warrant was illegal, raising objections, and filing recusals against Constitutional Court justices even after committing rebellion aimed at suspending constitutional institutions."

She added, "He seemed to deceive the people with cunning disguise until committing the crime of rebellion, but after committing the crime, even the media that had unconditionally supported him abandoned him," and evaluated, "His immoral, oppressive, and deceitful character was revealed to the whole world before and after the rebellion."

Moreover, she said, "The forces that supported and nurtured the great evil to create a rebellion monster for political, economic, and power-related personal gains have not yet overcome withdrawal symptoms, but with (President Yoon's) arrest, the national crisis has passed a critical point," targeting President Yoon's support base.

Finally, Choo said, "During lunchtime, restaurant customers are laughing for the first time in a while. The shop owners exchange kind words," and urged, "We must think about restoring daily life and healthily returning democracy."

Earlier, the Corruption Investigation Office for High-ranking Officials (CIO) executed an arrest warrant against President Yoon at 10:33 a.m. at his residence in Hannam-dong, Yongsan-gu, Seoul, and took him into custody. While opposition figures including the Democratic Party of Korea welcomed the move as the realization of the rule of law in South Korea, the People Power Party strongly criticized the arrest of a sitting president, showing divided reactions.
