"Victory for the People... Must Lead to Detention and Investigation"
"Hope for Full Disclosure of Insurrection and Treason Charges"
Civil society organizations in Gwangju stated that the execution of an arrest warrant for President Yoon Sukyeol, who is charged with 'insurrection', "will serve as a starting point for restoring national dignity and normalizing the Republic of Korea, which is in crisis."
The Gwangju Emergency Action for the Immediate Resignation of the Yoon Sukyeol Regime and Social Reform held a press conference in front of the Gwangju City Council on the afternoon of the 15th, declaring, "The arrest of Yoon Sukyeol, the ringleader of the insurrection, is a victory for the people. We rejoice in this great victory together with the citizens of Gwangju."

They continued, "The arrest of Yoon Sukyeol, who trampled on the rule of law with vile sophistry and evaded capture for over a month, will be the true starting point for restoring the dignity of the Republic of Korea and normalizing the nation in crisis."
They also insisted, "President Yoon's arrest must immediately lead to his detention," adding, "As other main perpetrators of the insurrection have been detained and indicted, the ringleader Yoon Sukyeol must also be investigated in custody to clearly reveal the truth behind the charges of insurrection and attempts to subvert the state."
Furthermore, they added, "Those who openly justify insurrection and continue to resist, as well as the remnants of the insurrection who are rooted in various sectors and operate in hiding, must all be punished according to their crimes."
They emphasized, "Although Yoon Sukyeol has been arrested, the demands and actions of the sovereign people for an end to insurrection, restoration of democracy, and major social reform are just beginning," and added, "Gwangju Emergency Action will not stop taking steps toward a nation where illegal insurrection is no longer possible, beyond discrimination, hatred, inequality, and the climate crisis, and toward a safe world of peace, human rights, and a dignified life for all."
