11% Increase Compared to Last Year
Goheung County in Jeollanam-do (Governor Gong Youngmin) announced that the number of tourists who visited Goheung in 2024 reached 5.66 million, marking an increase of approximately 11% compared to the previous year.
This achievement is being recognized as the result of Goheung County's diverse promotional and marketing strategies, which leveraged its unique natural environment and special themes of space and science.
Ssukseom saw the most significant attention, with a 95% increase compared to the previous year, while the Bongraesan and Palyongsan Natural Recreation Forests also showed remarkable growth of 45% and 43%, respectively. The Palyongsan area, which has established itself as one of Goheung's representative attractions alongside Palyong Bridge, attracted 35% of all tourists, solidifying its position as the core of Goheung tourism.
Building on these results, Goheung County plans to develop a variety of policies tailored to changing tourism trends, with the goal of reaching 10 million visitors by 2030.
To attract more tourists, the county will expand products that strengthen its brand as a city centered on space and aerospace, such as the Space Science Train and KTX-linked packages, and will increase incentives for group tourists, aiming to enhance visitor satisfaction through diverse content.
A county official stated, "We will continue to do our best to attract more tourists to Goheung by developing local content that highlights Goheung's unique characteristics and by expanding tourism products."
