"The opening of the Anseong~Guri Expressway

According to Gwangju-si (Mayor Bang Se-hwan) on the 15th, this expressway stretches a total length of 72.2 km from Guri-si (Namguri Interchange) to Anseong-si (Namanseong Junction), with 6 lanes in both directions, establishing itself as a key axis connecting the southern and northern parts of the Seoul metropolitan area.

With this opening, Gwangju-si is expected to achieve two goals: revitalizing the local economy through expanded road networks and enhancing transportation convenience.

The opening of the Anseong~Guri Expressway significantly strengthens accessibility between Gwangju-si and neighboring areas, greatly reducing logistics transit times. The previous travel time from Anseong to Guri, which took 88 minutes, has been reduced to about 39 minutes, greatly improving travel efficiency.

In particular, the city anticipates that this expressway opening will not only help disperse traffic flow in the Seoul metropolitan area but also significantly contribute to reducing congestion on the Gyeongbu Expressway and Jungbu Expressway, which have long suffered from chronic traffic jams.

Accordingly, this road opening is expected to bring major changes to Gwangju-si’s economy. As logistics movement becomes smoother, the potential for attracting businesses increases, and areas around the expressway are expected to inject new vitality into the local economy through the development of new residential complexes and commercial facilities.

Along with this, Gwangju-si plans to actively cooperate and promote road network expansion projects led by higher authorities, such as the Uiwang~Gwangju Expressway, Yongin~Gwangju Expressway, and the Gyeonggi Gwangju TG bottleneck improvement project.

Additionally, through its own projects such as the expansion and widening construction of Local Road No. 338 and the construction of entrance and exit ramps on the Seongnam~Janghowon Road, Gwangju-si aims to improve accessibility throughout the city and achieve balanced regional development.

Mayor Bang Se-hwan stated, “The Anseong~Guri Expressway will be an important milestone for Gwangju-si to leap forward as a transportation hub in the Seoul metropolitan area,” adding, “We will continue to invest in infrastructure to provide citizens with a better transportation environment.”
