Chairman Woo Won-sik: "After Yoon's Arrest, We Must Gather Capabilities for National Stability and Livelihood Recovery... Prompt Passage of Special Prosecutor Act"

Speaker of the National Assembly Woo Won-sik declared his commitment to national stability and the restoration of public livelihood on the 15th in relation to President Yoon Seok-yeol's arrest on charges of rebellion. Speaker Woo also expressed his determination to promptly pass the Special Investigation Act on Rebellion.

In a statement issued that day regarding President Yoon's arrest, Speaker Woo said, "It is fortunate that law enforcement was carried out without the feared clashes." He added, "Now that the chaotic situation has been settled, we must focus our efforts on national stability and the recovery of public livelihood," urging, "Unnecessary conflicts and provocative remarks should be restrained."


He also promised efforts at the National Assembly level to ensure national stability.


Speaker Woo stated, "The National Assembly will do its best, including active parliamentary diplomacy to reduce domestic and international uncertainties and the prompt activation of the ‘National Council for State Affairs’ to stabilize public livelihood." He continued, "The Special Investigation Act, which is currently under discussion between the ruling and opposition parties, will also be handled swiftly."
