People Power Party, Five Candidates Apply for Nomination in Asan Mayoral By-election

The Chungnam Provincial Party of the People Power Party announced on the 15th that five people have applied for nomination in the upcoming Asan mayoral by-election scheduled for April 2.

According to the results of the nomination applications received at the party headquarters from the 13th to the 14th, a total of five individuals applied: Yoo Ki-jun, Lee Kyosik, Lee Sanguk, Jeon Mangwon, and Maeng Uiseok.

All of them have already registered as preliminary candidates with the Election Commission.

A representative from the People Power Party stated, "The future schedule will be announced through the Nomination Management Committee," and added, "We will soon review how to recommend candidates."

He further explained, "After the recommendation, the agenda will be submitted to the party's Emergency Response Committee for final approval."

Meanwhile, this by-election is being held because Park Kyungkwi, the former Asan mayor from the People Power Party, lost his position after being sentenced to a fine of 15 million won for violating the Public Official Election Act.
