The 2nd Sacheon Aerospace Cup National Judo Competition for Recreational Sports will be held from the 17th to the 19th at the Samcheonpo Gymnasium in Sacheon-si, Gyeongnam.
Hosted and organized by the Gyeongnam Judo Association and Sacheon-si Judo Association, and sponsored by Sacheon-si, this event is a meaningful occasion where recreational judo practitioners from across the country compete in their skills.
This competition aims to revitalize recreational judo and promote harmony among judo practitioners, with approximately 1,200 athletes and officials expected to participate nationwide.
The tournament will be divided into a total of 25 categories, including men’s and women’s individual and team events, featuring matches that encompass various age groups and skill levels.
The individual events include kindergarten division, three elementary divisions (men and women), middle school division (men and women), high school division (men and women), three men’s general divisions, and women’s general division. The team events include two elementary divisions (men and women), middle school division (men and women), high school division (men and women), and general division (men and women).
The city has added symbolic significance by naming the event the ‘Aerospace Cup,’ reflecting Sacheon-si’s regional characteristic as the center of South Korea’s aerospace industry, and expects to contribute to local tourism and economic revitalization by combining sports with regional branding.
In particular, the city plans to use this competition as an opportunity to further expand the base of recreational sports and invigorate the local sports culture.
A city official stated, “This judo competition is not only a festival for judo practitioners but also an important opportunity to promote Sacheon-si. We will make every effort to prepare the event so that participants can perform their best matches in a safe and fair environment.”
