Five Locations Including Passenger Facilities and Traditional Markets Selected for Inspection
Namwon City in North Jeolla Province will conduct a joint safety inspection of multi-use facilities such as passenger terminals and traditional markets starting from the 15th in preparation for the Lunar New Year holiday.
According to the city on the 14th, this inspection will be carried out by a joint team consisting of officials from Namwon City, Namwon Fire Station, and private safety management experts.
The city plans to focus on inspecting five multi-use facilities, including the public bus terminal and traditional markets, where an increase in visitors returning home for the holiday is expected.
This special safety inspection aims to proactively address hazardous factors that could cause safety accidents during the Lunar New Year. The inspection will cover various areas: (Architecture) damage, cracks, or leaks in main structural components, and the condition of interior and exterior finishes; (Electricity) storage of flammable materials near distribution panels, grounding status, and use of standard wiring, among others.
(Gas) Proper storage of gas cylinders and normal operation of gas shut-off valves; (Fire Safety) Functionality of fire extinguishers and the condition of items stored around fire safety equipment will also be closely checked.
For facilities requiring repairs or improvements based on the inspection results, on-site corrective actions will be taken. For facilities where immediate action is difficult, repairs and reinforcements will be made as quickly as possible to minimize the risk of disasters.
Baek Kanggyu, Head of the Safety and Disaster Division, said, "We will actively promote everyday safety practices that all citizens can follow, such as unplugging unnecessary electrical cords and closing gas valves. In addition, we plan to operate the Integrated Disaster Response Center and maintain cooperation with relevant agencies to prepare for any accidents."
