Court Dismisses All Injunction Requests

The court dismissed the injunction requests filed by some electors and candidates who claimed that the election process for the 42nd President of the Korean Sport & Olympic Committee was unfair.

On the 13th, the Civil Division 21 of the Seoul Eastern District Court (Presiding Judge Kim Jeong-min) dismissed all injunction requests to halt the election filed by 11 delegates of the Korean Sport & Olympic Committee, including Lee Hojin, President of the Korea Ice Hockey Association, and Kang Shin-wook, Honorary Professor at Dankook University, who is also a candidate in the election.

Accordingly, the election for the President of the Korean Sport & Olympic Committee is scheduled to proceed as planned on the 14th, with 2,244 electors voting at the Olympic Hall in Olympic Park, Songpa-gu, Seoul.

The candidates in this election include the incumbent President Lee Ki-heung, former Secretary General of the Gangwon-do Sports Council Kim Yong-ju, former President of the Korea Table Tennis Association Yoo Seung-min, President of the Seoul Sports Council Kang Tae-seon, former President of the Korea Sepak Takraw Association Oh Ju-young, and Professor Kang Shin-wook, who have been campaigning.

Earlier, on the 7th, delegates including President Lee Hojin filed an injunction request with the Seoul Eastern District Court to halt the election, arguing that sufficient voting time must be guaranteed. They claimed that the 150-minute voting method infringed on voting rights.

Subsequently, on the 8th, Professor Kang Shin-wook also submitted an injunction request to stop the election. His side argued that the electors were not properly selected through a lawful procedure and that the election venue and time infringed on voting rights and fairness. However, the court did not accept their claims.
