Damyang County, Jeollanam-do announced on the 13th that it is operating a home visit health management program to protect the health of vulnerable groups as the cold wave intensifies this winter.

The home visit health management program involves dedicated personnel visiting the homes of vulnerable groups to check their health status and living environment, and to provide education on health management tips and emergency response methods during cold waves.

Currently, the county's public health center home visit health team, along with 36 staff members from health subcenters and clinics, is providing guidance on the prevention and response to cold-related illnesses to 3,219 vulnerable individuals through phone calls, home visits, and visits to senior centers and welfare centers. They are also conducting basic health management and consultations, including checking on well-being, measuring blood pressure and blood sugar, and educating on emergency response procedures.

The guidelines for preventing cold-related illnesses include: ▲light indoor exercise ▲adequate hydration ▲balanced nutrition ▲maintaining proper indoor temperature and humidity ▲checking the perceived temperature before going out ▲wearing warm clothes when going out ▲avoiding excessive physical activity, and more.

A county official stated, "Cold waves and frequent snowfall can be risk factors for cold-related illnesses, especially for the elderly," and added, "We will carry out intensive preventive activities through visiting nurses so that everyone can stay healthy this winter."
