On the 11th, Yangsan City in Gyeongnam conducted a housing environment improvement volunteer service, including cleaning and home repairs, targeting vulnerable households in the area through the Daeun Volunteer Society.
The target households were those involved in the city's 'Integrated Case Management.' Through case management counseling and home visits, the problems and crises of these households were identified. Due to severe hygiene issues and foul odors caused by long-neglected household waste and debris, urgent coordination with the local Daeun Volunteer Society was made to improve the housing environment.
Integrated Case Management is a project that provides comprehensive linkage and continuous counseling and monitoring of necessary services such as welfare, health, employment, education, housing, credit, and legal support to individuals with complex and diverse needs.
Members of the Daeun Volunteer Society, empathizing with the difficult situation of the household, joined forces on the day to remove all the waste and debris left inside the house, newly installed wallpaper and flooring, and repaired old sinks and washbasins that posed safety risks. The volunteer group's professional talent donation made the support even more meaningful.
Jisang-guk, president of the Daeun Volunteer Society, said, “We are pleased to provide a clean environment filled with the members’ hearts,” and added, “We will continue our volunteer activities steadily, thinking of volunteering as a social responsibility, to be a reliable support that gives courage to those in need.”
A Yangsan City official expressed, “We deeply thank the members of the Daeun Volunteer Society who delivered warm neighborly love with all their effort despite the cold weather,” and said, “Our city’s private volunteer groups always approach neighbors in need ahead of time regardless of reason or timing, and we are always grateful. The city will also do its best to discover and support welfare crisis households to create a welfare Yangsan where all citizens participate together.”
