Establishment of Basic Society Team... Universal Services Guaranteed Without Discrimination
Mayor Jeong Myeong-geun: "We Will Be a Beacon for a Better Life for Citizens"
Hwaseong City in Gyeonggi Province, which was promoted to a special city this year, has begun full-scale implementation of the 'Hwaseong-type Basic Society' to provide universal public services without discrimination.
Hwaseong City announced on the 13th that it established a 'Basic Society Team' on the 10th to provide essential services across all areas of public life and to actively promote the Hwaseong-type Basic Society.
'Basic Society' refers to a society that protects human dignity and value beyond the minimum standard of living. Universal basic services such as basic income, housing, healthcare, and education are guaranteed to all citizens without discrimination.
The newly established Basic Society Team is placed under Balanced Development and is responsible for promoting the 'Hwaseong-type Basic Society' policy. Following the launch of this team system, the city plans to create a dedicated department called the 'Basic Society Division' through an organizational restructuring in the first half of the year.
Earlier, Mayor Jeong Myeong-geun of Hwaseong City presented specific achievements and best practices of the 'Hwaseong-type Basic Society' at a local government policy presentation in November last year, and this year allocated the largest related budget nationwide of 278.4 billion KRW. Mayor Jeong also joined as a central director of the Basic Society Corporation on the 7th.
Mayor Jeong said, "To realize the Hwaseong-type Basic Society, we will promote the highest level of basic society policies befitting a special city," adding, "We will prioritize support for basic society policies and serve as a beacon for a better life for our citizens."
