GS25 Sparking a Massive Trend... Leading Price Stability with Private Brands (PB)

Jumbo Dosirak, 8.5 Times Larger Than Paldo Dosirak, and More

GS Retail operates the convenience store GS25, a domestic native brand convenience store launched in 1990. Since then, it has dominated the domestic convenience store industry, continuously introducing industry-leading products and services such as Kim Hyeja Dosirak, Jumbo Ramen series, and half-price delivery. Recently, it has also taken the lead in stabilizing prices by launching competitively priced private brand (PB) products.


Since May 2023, GS Retail has introduced a series starting with Jumbo Dosirak, a large-capacity cup ramen 8.5 times the size of Paldo Dosirak, including ▲ Gongganchun (Jjaengban Jjamjjamyeon) ▲ Omori Jumbo Dosirak ▲ Teumsae Bigimmyun. The cumulative sales have reached 4 million units, and the four PB cup ramen products alone recorded sales worth 37 billion KRW.

It is also actively working on price stabilization. As of October last year, GS25’s Real Price product cumulative sales exceeded 35 billion KRW. GS Retail attributes the increase in Real Price sales to consumers’ growing preference for ultra cost-effective products amid prolonged high inflation.


Real Price is a price-sensitive PB launched by GS Retail by discovering competitively priced manufacturer products. Originally operated mainly through the supermarket GS The Fresh, Real Price products were expanded to GS25 starting January last year. The convenience store-exclusive lineup focuses on essential grocery items such as eggs, meat, tofu, bean sprouts, and milk, offered at affordable prices. The average sales per Real Price store at GS25 locations in residential areas were found to be 3.1 times higher than in other commercial districts.


GS25 is also leading the adoption of innovative technology. As of last year, GS25 operates three retail tech specialized stores. In these specialized stores, a 'Take&Go' payment system has been established, allowing customers to enter via smartphone QR code and automatically pay when they pick up desired products and leave. GS25 Ground Blue 49, a future experiential store, is a specialized store that maximizes customer experience and engagement.


GS25 is strategically expanding into overseas markets such as Vietnam and Mongolia. GS25 aims to open more than 500 stores in Vietnam and 500 stores in Mongolia by 2025. Through this, it aspires to achieve 1,000 global stores by 2025 and 1,500 global stores by 2027.
