Usage Fee is 5,000 Won Per Hour...
Parents Pay Only 2,000 Won
Gongju City in Chungnam Province announced on the 13th that it will officially operate a 24-hour dedicated daycare center for infants and young children under the age of 7 who are not yet in school and are at least 6 months old.
The 24-hour dedicated daycare center is part of the "Himsen Chungnam Full Care" childcare policy. It is being operated to reduce the childcare burden for parents during vulnerable hours by accommodating various work schedules such as dual-income, shift work, and weekend work.
The service is available to infants and young children aged 6 months to 7 years who are not yet in school and whose guardians (parents or grandparents) are either registered residents of Gongju City or work in the city. The capacity is five children per teacher (three if including children with disabilities or infants).
The operating hours are from 6 p.m. to 9 a.m. the next day on weekdays, and from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekends and public holidays. However, the center is closed on major holidays and Labor Day.
Those wishing to use the service can make a reservation through the Chungnam Childcare Support Center (Ai Kium Tteul) website or by phone. Night care (6 p.m. to midnight) must be applied for by 6 p.m. on the same day, while early morning care (midnight to 9 a.m.) and weekend care (9 a.m. to 6 p.m.) must be applied for by 2 p.m. on the same day.
For urgent night care (6 p.m. to midnight), same-day reservations can be made by phone or in person.
The fee is 5,000 won per hour, with the city covering 3,000 won and parents only responsible for 2,000 won.
Mayor Choi Woncheol said, "Now, even if something unexpected happens, parents will have a safe place to leave their children, which will help reduce the burden of childcare. Gongju City will continue to strive to create a childcare environment where children can grow up healthy and happy 24 hours a day, 365 days a year."
