Sony Open Playoff Victory Earns Ranking Points

In the men's golf weekly world rankings announced on the 12th (local time), he earned 2.51 points, soaring 44 spots from 73rd place last week. He claimed the top spot after two playoff rounds against Nico Echavarria (Colombia) at the Sony Open (total prize money $8.7 million) held at Waialae Country Club (par 70, 7,044 yards) in Honolulu, Hawaii, USA. This marks his 5th career win, 11 months after winning the WM Phoenix Open in February last year, with a winner's prize of $1,566,000 (approximately 2.3 billion KRW).


There were no changes among the top ranks in the world rankings. Scottie Scheffler, Xander Schauffele (both USA), and Rory McIlroy (Northern Ireland) maintained the 'Top 3'. For Korea, Im Sung-jae is 19th, Kim Joo-hyung 23rd, and An Byeong-hun 25th. Sony Open runner-up Echavarria jumped 25 spots from 66th last week to 41st.
