Recruitment of 36 New Members for Women's Choir, Children's Choir, and More from January 13 to February 10
Expected to Contribute to Cultural Enjoyment and Development of Arts through District Events, Performances, and Competitions
Seongdong-gu, Seoul (District Mayor Jung Won-oh) is recruiting new members for the Seongdong-gu Cultural and Arts Groups to expand various cultural enjoyment opportunities for residents.
The Seongdong-gu Cultural and Arts Groups serve as cultural ambassadors representing Seongdong-gu, nurturing cultural and artistic capabilities so that any resident can realize their artistic dreams through music, and leading efforts to promote cultural enjoyment in residents' daily lives.
This year, from January 13 to February 10, a total of 36 new members will be recruited to join four district-run groups: the Women's Choir, the Children's Choir, the Senior Choir, and the Theater Troupe.
The Women's Choir is recruiting 10 women aged 20 to 55, the Children's Choir is recruiting 7 members from 3rd grade elementary to 3rd grade middle school, the Senior Choir is recruiting 7 men and women aged 50 to 70, and the Theater Troupe is open to anyone aged 20 or older with 12 spots available. Detailed recruitment guidelines can be found in the announcement section on the Seongdong-gu Office website, and applicants can submit their application forms by visiting the Seongdong-gu Office Culture and Sports Division in person or via email.
New members will be finally selected through document screening followed by interviews and practical skill auditions for each group, and successful candidates will be individually notified by the end of February.
The selected members will have the opportunity to perform annually on large stages within the district such as Sowol Art Hall (281 Wangsimni-ro) and Seongsu Art Hall (43 Ttukseom-ro 1-gil). They will also participate in major Seongdong-gu cultural and artistic events like the Eungbongsan Forsythia Festival and the Taejo Yi Seong-gye Festival, various competitions, and volunteer activities for culturally marginalized groups, among other performances.
Last year, the Seongdong-gu Cultural and Arts Groups achieved excellent results in various competitions. The Women's Choir won the Silver Award in the Women's Division at the 26th Prime Minister's National Choir Competition, the Children's Choir received Gold and Silver Awards at the 6th World Youth Choir Festival, and the Senior Choir won the Encouragement Award at the April 19 Choir Competition.
Jung Won-oh, Mayor of Seongdong-gu, stated, "We hope many residents will show interest and participate to unleash their hidden passion and talent," adding, "We will continue to support the Seongdong-gu Cultural and Arts Groups so they can carry on diverse and rich cultural and artistic activities for residents, and we will strive to revitalize culture and arts in Seongdong-gu."
