Korea Jokgu Association Presents Appreciation and Merit Awards
to Regional Associations, Jokgu Contributors, and Teachers
A ceremony honoring individuals who contributed to the development of Jokgu in South Korea, a K-sport derived from traditional ethnic sports such as ‘Chukguk’ and ‘Jegichagi,’ was held.
The Busan Jokgu Association announced on the 13th that the Korea Jokgu Association Merit Awards Ceremony took place at 5 p.m. on the 11th at Daewoong Wedding Hall in Goseong-eup, Goseong-gun, Gyeongnam Province.
The event was attended by executives of the Jokgu Association, presidents of city and provincial associations nationwide, secretariat officials, and Jokgu merit awardees.
In the Busan Jokgu Association merit award category, Park Sam-cheol, president of the Busan Jokgu Association, received a commendation from National Assembly member Jeon Jae-su (Chairman of the National Assembly Culture, Sports and Tourism Committee). Teacher Lee (Geumjeong Middle School, Busan) received a plaque of appreciation for contributing to the development of school sports.
Former vice presidents Yu Geun-ryeol and Kim Ju-cheol of the Busan Jokgu Association each received a merit plaque from the Korea Jokgu Association president, and Vice Chairman Jang Hee-wook (Korea Jokgu Association Competition Committee) was also awarded a merit plaque.
The Busan Jokgu Association’s Excellent Organization Award was won by Geumjeong Middle School in Busan and the Oryuk Jokgu Team. Geumjeong Middle School won several championship trophies by participating in various Jokgu tournaments held nationwide and in Busan last year.
The individual excellent player awards went to Kim Jae-seung (Busan Jungang) and Lee Seung-woo (Geumjeong Middle School, Busan).
