Kakao Mobility "Taxi Boarding Success Rate Increasing Every Year... Effect of Technology Advancement"

Kakao Mobility announced on the 13th that the taxi boarding success rate on the day with the highest annual number of calls over the past three years has increased every year. In particular, last year showed an improvement effect by rising more than 12 percentage points compared to 2022.


Additionally, the days with the highest annual number of Kakao T taxi call users from 2022 to last year were December 16, December 17, and December 21, respectively, all during the year-end season. It was found that all these days were Saturdays before Christmas or the Christmas holiday weekend. On December 21 last year, just before the Christmas holiday, Kakao T recorded the highest number of taxi call users ever.


Especially, the boarding success rates on the days with the highest number of taxi call users each year were 71.3%, 75.4%, and 83.4%, showing a continuous upward trend annually. The boarding success rate represents the percentage of users who attempted to call a taxi and actually boarded and completed the ride.


During the year-end season, taxi call demand surges sharply due to weather conditions such as cold and year-end gatherings. In the case of Kakao T, it can be interpreted that stable demand handling capabilities have been established through improvements every year.


Kakao Mobility has enhanced its technical capabilities in various aspects to improve the dispatch experience for both users and taxi drivers. Based on big data analysis know-how, improvements in map matching technology and the use of machine learning techniques to improve dispatch success rates have provided more optimized dispatch connections for both users and taxi drivers.


Moreover, through traffic volume prediction algorithms and real-time location data and traffic information, it provided accurate estimated travel times and fare information, enhancing the reliability of the information. Efforts to improve the usability of the Kakao T application have continued with the introduction of additional features such as ▲Call on behalf ▲Taxi reservation function ▲Payment card change ▲Estimated boarding time selection function.
