The Korea branch of Amnesty International announced on the 13th that it will carry out the ‘Hope Bracelet’ goods campaign as part of a campaign to help those suffering from discrimination and violence worldwide.
The Amnesty International Hope Bracelet is designed to symbolize hope and solidarity. The ‘candle’ shaped surgical (surgical alloy material) pendant is a symbol of Amnesty, representing lighting up the darkness and illuminating the world. The entire bracelet is made of knotted string, symbolizing the hope that everyone’s solidarity can bring about change in the world.
Engraved on the back of the bracelet is the word ‘AMNESTY,’ signifying that all Amnesty supporters are connected, and representing the commitment and determination of human rights defenders to protect human rights together. The pendant and beads are made of surgical steel, and the packaging uses biodegradable corn-based wrapping paper, making efforts to minimize disposable products.
The Hope Bracelet can be ordered through the Korea branch’s website and will be provided to the first 500 new regular donors who contribute 20,000 KRW or more. The proceeds from sales will be used for Amnesty International’s human rights protection activities, including investigating human rights violations and demanding solutions from international organizations and governments worldwide.
Han Ju-yeon, Digital Fundraising Manager at Amnesty International Korea, said, “The Hope Bracelet symbolizes the solidarity of people wishing for change, beyond simply wearing a bracelet. We planned this campaign with the hope of closing a tumultuous last year well and wishing for a better world for everyone this year.”
