The city has been promoting the ‘Goyang City Green Building Creation Support Project’ to improve the energy performance of existing old houses. This year, with Gyeonggi Province newly launching the ‘2025 Housing Passive Remodeling Support Project,’ the city secured 60 million KRW in provincial funds and matched it with 60 million KRW from the city budget, operating the project with a total scale of 120 million KRW.

The support targets are the same as last year: detached and multi-family houses that have been approved for use under the Building Act and are over 15 years old, and apartment buildings with 19 or fewer households. Selected applicants can receive subsidies covering up to 50% of the total net construction cost, with a maximum of 10 million KRW.

The supported renovations include △replacement of high-performance windows △internal and external insulation work △replacement of power-saving excellent products such as electrical and lighting systems (LED lights).

Applications are open until the 23rd. Applicants can download the related documents from the Goyang Special City website, fill them out, and submit them in person to the Architecture Policy Division of Goyang Special City Hall.

Applicants will be selected through document screening, on-site investigation, and review by the Green Building Creation Committee.

A city official stated, “If demand exceeds the budget secured by the city, we plan to secure additional funds to improve the energy performance of old houses,” and added, “We encourage many citizens to apply.”
