On the 11th, Lee posted on his social media account, "There are no borders before life, and walking together in difficult times is what makes an alliance," adding, "As an allied country, I want to make sure to convey that the Korean people, the LA diaspora, and furthermore the American people are sharing in the pain you are experiencing."
He also said, "The fire has continued for three days, spreading damage on an unimaginable scale," and "I offer my condolences to the bereaved families and the American people who must be in great sorrow and shock." He added, "I pray that through swift rescue efforts, fire suppression, and rapid recovery, everyone can regain their homes."
In LA, the largest city in the western United States, multiple wildfires have continued for the fourth day. Approximately one-quarter of the area of Seoul has been burned. At least 10 people have died in this incident. The American financial company Wells Fargo estimated that the economic damage caused by this disaster will exceed $60 billion (approximately 88.416 trillion KRW).
