A woman in her 20s from Korea injured eight people by swinging a hammer during a class at a Japanese university.

According to local media such as Kyodo News and NHK on the 10th, Ms. A, a student in the Department of Sociology at Hosei University in Japan, swung a hammer at students during a class at the Tama Campus classroom in Machida City, Tokyo, in the afternoon.


As a result, eight students in their 20s, including five men and three women, were injured. They sustained bruises on their heads, foreheads, and arms.


Five of them were transported to the hospital. The remaining three, who were bleeding from their heads, received emergency treatment at the school clinic and were expected to receive further treatment at the hospital.


Kyodo News reported that "all injuries were minor" and that "about 100 people were attending the class."


According to the police investigation, Ms. A was identified as a Korean resident of Hachioji City, Tokyo. Ms. A, who was arrested at the school, reportedly stated, "I was ignored by the group, and my frustration built up, so I hit them with a hammer that was at the university."
